Oprah and Top Journalists Say Farewell to Barbara Walters on The View

After 50 years in the television industry Barbara Walters received a proper send off by Oprah, her co-hosts and other top journalists: Diane Sawyer, Robin Roberts, Lara Spencer, Elizabeth Vargas, Amy Robach, Deborah Roberts, Juju Chang, Katie Couric, Savannah Guthrie, Natalie Morales, Tamron Hall, Maria Shriver, Cynthia McFadden, Meredith Vieira, Kathie Lee Gifford, Hoda Kotb, Jane Pauley, Gayle King, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Gretchen Carlson, Lisa Ling, Deborah Norville, Paula Zahn, Connie Chung, Joan London, and Rosie O’Donnel, plus Hilary Clinton & Michael Douglas today on The View.

She started her career in 1962 and it’s hard to believe that The View has be on TV for 17 years. Oprah Winfrey had special words for her mentor and said, “Of course I’m here…to celebrate what you’ve meant to me. You have literally meant the world to me. I want to thank you for being a pioneer…to pave the road we all walk on, I want to thank you for the courage it took to get up every day and sit in that chair….And I thank you for the stamina…You’re really the reason why we’re all here.”

Barbara looked at these amazingly talented women surrounding her and said, “This is my legacy…these are my legacy! Now having had this amazing career…how do I walk away and say goodbye? Who knows what the future brings? Maybe instead of saying goodbye I should say ‘a bientot,’ which in French means see you later!”

A Bientot Barbara!
